Abundant Care CBO is a community-based organisation that was registered in 2008 under the State Department for Social Protection to facilitate the participation of persons living with disabilities (PWD) in sustainable environmental management and socio-economic empowerment of Machakos County in Kenya. We believe that for communities to achieve holistic development, there is a need to involve all people irrespective of their gender, age, and disabilities in the shared vision, and for them to visualise the important roles that they need to play towards this end.
We thus work with local communities in identifying needs and prioritising interventions, as an important way of creating local ownership of the projects and programmes that we initiate. In so doing, our organisation serves as a bridge between the aspirations of persons living with disabilities and their communities on the one hand, and local and international partners, on the other hand, to supplement local resources and efforts in building a great future for our communities.
MISSION
We exist to promote the awareness, empowerment and inclusion of persons living with disabilities in the holistic growth and development of Machakos County and Kenya. We aspire to achieve this by:
- Developing and implementing sustainable livelihood support and environmental management programmes.
- Promoting access to education and opportunities for personal and career development.
- Widening access to quality healthcare.
- Advocacy for inclusion and mainstreaming of the disability agenda in public life.

To realise a society where persons living with disabilities play an important role in the socio-economic growth and the environmental sustainability of Machakos County, Kenya and East Africa.
